Popular Headshot Layouts Final Size 8 x 10
HS1 and HS2 (Borders)
This is the industry's standard layout. This layout has standard white borders all around with your name centered on the bottom. HS1 Layout ensures that you image will not be cropped. You may also have your name justified to the right or left of the image. You can also request black borders (however this takes longer to dry). Casting directors prefer this layout since the borders allow them to make crucial notes on the headshot borders. These layouts are faster to dry- so if you are in a rush we recommend this layout.
HS5 (Full Bleed-No Borders)
This layout is also popular. This layout has no borders and your image bleeds off the edges. However, not all images are suitable for this layout. Depending on the proportions of the image- there could be major cropping in order to make it a full bleed. These layouts take longer to dry.
HS3 (Insert Headshot)
These layouts are those that want both a theatrical and commercial shot on one headshot. Typically, the main image is your commercial shot (smiling) and the insert is the theatrical shot (not smiling) This layout is not as popular or well preferred in the industry- but it is a good cost saving tool if you cannot afford two separate headshots with different looks. These layouts are faster to dry.
Double Sided Headshots This layout has been increasingly popular since it allows actors to have two full headshots looks on a single 8 x 10 double sided. This varies from the HS3 whereas you are receiving two full shots as opposed to one large and one small corner shot . Many companies are unable to print double sided headshots- but WE CAN! These layouts take longer to dry and process. But we do what we can to speed the process up.
